Reflections: Our Favourite Beaches

We realised that by the end of our trip we had visited a huge amount of amazing beaches.  We didn’t plan it this way, but when we weren’t in a major city, or in the mountains we were likely to be at the beach!  Here were some of our favourites.

  1. White Beach, Boracay Island, The Philippines

A picture postcard tropical beach on this great holiday island. To read more click here and here

2. Sok San Beach, Koh Rong, Cambodia

7km of white sand and much welcome near solitude compared to nearby Sihanoukville. To read more click here

3. Playa Punta Tombo, Argentine Patagonia

Just your average day hanging out with an Elephant Seal colony. To find out more click here

4. Long Beach, Ko Phi Phi, Thailand

Only a short long tail boat ride from Phi Phi’s party central port beaches, this was much more our kind of place, with great snorkelling and no clubs in sight.  To find out more … await Ryan’s Thailand post!

5. Gold Coast Beaches, Australia

Some of the biggest stretches of perfect beaches we have seen anywhere. To find out more click here

6. Beaches at Abel Tasman National Park, New Zealand

Fantastic walks and chilly swimming. To find out more click here

7. Puerto Piramides Beach, Argentine Patagonia

Known for Whale watching and Patagonian wildlife day trips, this beach flanked by huge dunes felt really quite special. To find out more click here

8. Pocitos Beach, Montevideo, Uruguay

Even in the torrential rain we experienced, Montevideo’s beaches were a big surprise and we can only imagine it might feel like a cross between Barcelona and Margate in summer! To find out more click here

9. Lago Grey Beach, Chilean Patagonia

It’s not every day you get to go for a nice long walk on a glacial moraine beach that has icebergs floating on the shoreline! To read more click here

10. North Beach, Isla Mujeres, Mexico

Only a 15min boat ride from bustling Cancun, this is a great little beach with perfect swimming on a lovely little island. To find out more click here
